So, what does it take to be an Indie? Indie kids value their uniqueness and liberty. They do not conform to the ideals and beliefs of majority. They love to hear Indie and alternative music. They dislike music found in the top 20s of the music charts because those are the bands and single artists that most people adores. They are open minded, having that said, they do not judge people just by looking at others appearance.
Adolescent Indies are fond of adorning themselves with several piercings. An Indie on the other hand are not allowed to puncture their body and they have to wait for the legal age of 18. Unless, their parents are Indies too. But generally, children below 18 are not yet allowed to have body piercing of any sort. They must wait until they’re a little older before they can experiment with their bodies.
Then again, there are ways to falsify it. So don’t worry if your kids are into Indies. Magnetic earrings are very popular among Indies. They are not that intrusive and they are distinctive. They are found in most boutique stores and district tattoo shops.
When it comes to their outfit, most Indie kids love to wear hot pants matched with a unique top. Girls on the other hand are attached to big accessories and cosmetics. Although many parents are against this because they can appear cheap. Their philosophy is that they look out of the ordinary when they are wearing heavy makeup and big accessories. Sometimes their hair has life on its own. They don’t care to brush. They don’t even care if they are called names by people around them.
If you know an Indie kid somewhere, do not judge. Who knows? That kid can be someone else’s kid who needs sympathy and care. Nobody can really tell what the child may turn out in the future. So don’t call them misfits or outcasts because they fit faultlessly in this world and they are at liberty to have their own views and ideals. They just don’t want to be conformed in this world and be called as common because they are not. Instead, love them and embrace the fact that we are all different.
