What Does A Gamer Look Like
The person who played video games was easy to describe many years ago. Not only could you spot the gamer, you were able to put a nametag on them. They were called nerds. Gamers were the smart kids in the class. The pocket protector was very popular among them. Communicating with them was like talking to an alien. Over the years the image of the gamer has changed. It has become much harder to decide who is a gamer and who is not. How has the look of the typical gamer changed?
The first way to describe a gamer is by the system they play on because the people who play are loyal to the console they like to play on whether it is the Xbox kinect, the Playstation Move, The Nintendo Wii, A PC gamer, or someone who plays games on their phones, they system they play on really does not matter except to the individual who is playing on it. A gamer will stick to the one that they think is the best.
Gamers used to be all male. That is also not the case in today’s word. Men and women even play them side by side. No longer are the game systems found in the man cave. Gaming systems have come out of the closet and into the open areas of the home. That has opened them up to people of any gender.
There is also no set age for a gamer. A teenager was usually the most common gaming enthusiast in the past. Arcades were the stomping ground the younger generation if a person recently went to a store for the recent xbox 360 kinect release date they would see a line that was full of people of all ages and the game systems were to be played by everyone in the family from the youngest child all the way to the great grandparent who had come over for a holiday dinner and found themselves caught up in the excitement of game play.
When they were first introduced the people who played the games were easy to categorize. People who played games were devoted to the hobbie. A lot of time was invested in achieving goals in gaming. Video games became the central part of their life and affected anything else they did. Today’s gamers are often casual gamers. Game systems can go several days at a time without being turned on. A person is not always a part of the gaming console. This type of gamer is looking for ways to play that are not going to make them think a lot and always build on what they had done before. If they do not play a game they are okay and find other ways to fill their time. Games have become something that is an occasional distraction rather than an obsession.
In order to pick a person who plays video games you have to stop thinking about stereotypes. A gamer can be just about anyone and you might guess wrong if you try to guess. If you are in a room with a bunch of people the odds are they have found the enjoyment o gaming. Almost every home has a console of some type. The systems are hard to resist and attract all of the people in the household at one time or another.
Trying to draw a picture of a gaming enthusiast is an enjoyable activity. Everyone will probably have an idea of their gamer that is not the same as anyone else. The typical gamer has changed more than the game systems have. The challenge of picking a gaming enthusiast out of the crowd is fun to play also.
