Google observes Pac Man 30th anniversary

A PacMan display was used for the Google logo on the homepage, called a Google Doodle. Not only that, but you can actually play Pac Man on it. It really plays. Look at the Insert Coin button on the Search Bar. Click it, and you can play Pac Man until you’re blue in the face, without having to dump instant money into subscribing to gaming websites or a quarter machine.

PacMan turning 30

On May 22, 1980, Pac Man was released in Japan, according to the Pac Man wiki. The developer was Toru Iwatami, while he worked for Namco Games. (As a sad aside, he didn't even get a bonus or share of the sales.) Asteroids or Galaga type video games were the most popular at the time, and he set out to create an alternative. Midway Games picked it up soon after it became a quick hit to sell in the US. A highly prized collectors' item among video game geeks is the coffee table version of the PacMan arcade game.

Where to play PacMan

There's the version on the Google homepage. Numerous free PacMan games exist online. There is even an app you can download for iPod Touch and the iPhone, and we’d presume, the iPad. It's a legendary video game, and it is still pretty fun to play.
