What Does A Gamer Look Like
When video games were first introduced the typical gamer was easy to describe. Gamers were known by many different names at the time. They were called nerds. These people excelled in school. The pocket protector was very popular among them. The words they used were only able to be understood by other gamers. Over the years the image of the gamer has changed. It has become much harder to decide who is a gamer and who is not. How has the look of the typical gamer changed?
The first way to describe a gamer is by the system they play on because the people who play are loyal to the console they like to play on whether it is the Xbox kinect, the Playstation Move, The Nintendo Wii, A PC gamer, or someone who plays games on their phones, they system they play on really does not matter except to the individual who is playing on it. Each person has a favorite console that they stand by.
Girls did not play video games at first. That is also not the case in today’s word. It is not unusual to see girls and boys enjoying a video game with each other. The gaming consoles are not relegated to some out of the way corner or in the basement. Family rooms are where people gather and put a game on to spend an evening together. That has opened them up to people of any gender.
There is no point in a person’s life where they have to stop playing the games. When they were first introduced the people who played the games were usually in their teen years. Arcades were the stomping ground the younger generation if a person recently went to a store for the recent xbox 360 kinect release date they would see a line that was full of people of all ages and the game systems were to be played by everyone in the family from the youngest child all the way to the great grandparent who had come over for a holiday dinner and found themselves caught up in the excitement of game play.
When they were first introduced the people who played the games were easy to categorize. People who played games were devoted to the hobbie. A lot of time was invested in achieving goals in gaming. They lived through the games and did not do much else beside play them. Now, people are not always as serious about the hobby. People are not always concerned about reaching a new level and have lost the total obsession about gaming. They do not get completely involved in the games. They want games that they can pick up and play without being an expert. They have lost the need to pick up a game and continue it on a daily basis. Instead of being defined by the games they play a person is defined by who they are overall.
In order to pick a person who plays video games you have to stop thinking about stereotypes. You could be standing in a room with many of them and not even realize it. The reality of the situation is that there are probably more gamers than there are non gamers. The number of systems that have been sold bear out just that. The systems are hard to resist and attract all of the people in the household at one time or another.
Understanding who plays games today is not easy but it can be fun. The way gamers are described is as diverse as the people who describe them. The typical gamer has changed more than the game systems have. Maybe someone will make a video game that helps pick out the person who plays them.
