Beware, "freemium" game purveyors of Glorious Nippon! The state is upon you! Such may be the state of things if Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency decides that the moneymaking schemes employed by the country's booming social gaming industry are illegal. The JCAA has recently turned the stink-eye at the practice of "Comp Gacha" (or "Complete Gacha") mechanics. What are those, you ask? In gaming terms, "Complete Gacha" is best described as Gashapon-style random-item draws (the "Gacha" part) married to the "item set" concept (the "Complete" part), all powered by tiny microtransactions. In social games that use the style (such as Namco Bandai's _Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls_), players fork over cash to draw random idol cards, then assemble specific sets of normal cards, which unlock the _chance_ to draw - at random - a super-rare card that conveys special benefits in-game.
